A patient (67 years old) came to us to prepare for surgery to remove a large tumor from the left parotid gland. The patient was diagnosed with a benign tumor of the salivary gland, the so-called Warthin tumor. The gland was significantly enlarged, which deformed the face.
Health condition before the procedure
Before the procedure, the patient had abnormal test results: * significantly increased MCV index in morphology,
* chronically increased potassium level (for several years),
* chronically increased creatinine level (for several years),
* increased eGFR and uric acid level,
* increased sugar level,
* increased blood pressure.
Preparation for the procedure
We prepared the patient for the procedure by: * procedures in a normobaric chamber,
* hydrogen-oxygen inhalations,
* creating a nutritious diet that included proper hydration with isotonic fluids,
* targeted supplementation.
Tumour removal procedure
The procedure was highly invasive, because the entire face was dissected and the great auricular nerve, as well as the trunk of the facial nerve, were exposed. Histopathological examination confirmed Warthin’s tumor.
Patient’s condition after the surgery
After the surgery, facial nerve paralysis occurred with numerous symptoms, such as limited facial expression (the patient did not close her eyelid), drooping corner of the mouth, lack of forehead and nose wrinkling, pain in half of the face. The post-operative wound was very deep – reaching the entire temple to the neck.
Recovery plan
After 2 weeks from the procedure, the patient began using: * hydrogen inhalation,
* treatments in a normobaric chamber,
* Lutronic lamp. In addition, treatments in a beauty salon were added to accelerate wound healing and exercises to improve facial expressions, including facial massage (daily).
Effects
The effects are very satisfactory: * Facial nerve paralysis receded after only 3 weeks,
* the post-procedure wound is healing very well.
Preparing for the procedure resulted in normalization of health – improvement of laboratory results and improvement of kidney condition: * creatinine within normal,
* potassium within normal,
* MCV within normal,
* sugar level dropped,
* blood pressure normalized.
Currently, the Patient is in good health, she has returned to work.
Our other patient cases show that thanks to the therapies we provide, they achieve 2-3 times faster wound healing, reduced complications, but also normalization of their health.
