Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is the month when we pay special attention to breast cancer prevention. Breast cancer is one of the most common health threats to women, but early detection changes the chances of successful treatment. It is worth knowing the symptoms, risk factors and having regular tests to take care of your health. This month, let’s remember that time is key – early diagnosis is a step towards a better future.

October has been recognized worldwide for many years as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women worldwide (25%) and the leading cause of death (14%), and breast cancer patients make up 36% of women living with cancer. Every day, many women hear a diagnosis that changes their lives forever. Time is an important aspect of oncological treatment. That is why prevention and early detection of disturbing changes are so important.

Cancer does not wait, time and action count!

Symptoms that should raise alertness

  • Palpable lump in the breast
  • Bloody discharge from the nipple
  • Skin ulceration
  • Nipple pulled inward
  • Palpable lump in the armpit area
  • Redness of the breast skin

Breast cancer risk factors

  • Hormonal disorders
  • Genetics (BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations)
  • Obesity and lack of physical activity
  • Long-term use of oral hormonal contraception and/or hormone replacement therapy
  • Environmental factors
  • A diet rich in pro-inflammatory products
  • Other cancers – e.g. previous breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine body
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Not breastfeeding
  • Not having children or having a child after the age of 35

The basis of cancer prevention is primarily a well-balanced anti-inflammatory diet, physical activity, elimination of all inflammations, oxygenation of the body and systematic self-examination.

Tests that help detect changes in the breast

  • Regular visits to the gynecologist
  • Regular breast ultrasound
  • BREAST SELF-EXAMINATION AT HOME – a very important element

IMPORTANT! If you notice symptoms that worry you, don’t delay, CHECK IT!

Dear Ladies, remember that your health is the most valuable asset in life and ONLY YOU can take care of it. Cancer does not discriminate, it comes suddenly along with fear and the question “why me?”. Let us remember, however, that cancer is not a death sentence, provided it is detected in the early stages of development.

That is why we encourage you to get tested.
